Yay, more practical tools I can start using right away. Can you add in links (if you have them)? Another tool like browsershots is http://ready.mobi for testing your site on mobile devices.

Thanks for posting this - tips like this are so much more useful on a practical level than just “redeisgn your website” or “get a new opac” - tips like say things visually, replace all “click here’s,” and using external style sheets are things I can do this week to improve the website.

Sadly, though, I think I have a better chance of writing an opac interface myself than I do of convincing the other librarians to put their pictures on the Contact Us page.

After frequent requests to use our library e mail list to announce non library events, this week I started this site. http://pittsfieldvt.wetpaint.com/ Of course
I want the site to be open to commercial as well as non commercial participation, as long as it is local. I didn’t want the library to be associated with any controversy that might arise. (FYI, I am not actually a librarian, but a volunteer in an all volunteer library). I told people it is not a library site, but something I personally created. Since they know me, some associate it with the library anyway.
