Is graffiti art or vandalism?
That word has a lot of negative connotations and it alienates people, so no, I don’t like to use the word ‘art’ at all.

Many thanks to Banksy for clearing that up… I agree.

He goes on:

Imagine a city where graffiti wasn’t illegal, a city where everybody could draw whatever they liked. Where every street was awash with a million colours and little phrases. Where standing at a bus stop was never boring. A city that felt like a living breathing thing which belonged to everybody, not just the estate agents and barons of big business. Imagine a city like that and stop leaning against the wall - it’s wet.

What would the library in that city look like?

graffiti is a great way to get your ideas heard. Nobody will sign petitions, your congressman won’t ever read your letter, nobody is ever going to hear you the legal way. no matter what they say, they never do. when you spray paint, wheatpaste, or stick something on a wall, get their attention, people will hear you. Illegal activities always get people’s attention.
