NELA Conference - this weekend
I’m looking forward to the New England Library Association conference in beautiful Burlington, VT next week, Sunday 22 October to Tuesday 24 October. NELA has done a great job lining up a series of presentations to speak to librarians in all types of organizations.
I’m particularly looking forward to Marshall Keys‘ Step Up to the Future, especially after reading about his presentation at 2006 Off Campus Library Services Conference. I’m also interested in Linda Braun (ALA blogger for YALSA, among other things)’s Newer and Newest: New Technologies and Their Impact on Teen Literacy. Because, of course, today’s teens are tomorrow’s freshman, and it would be so nice for an academic library to exceed their needs and expectations - instead of barely meeting them. And, of course, there’s Jessamyn, always with new wonderful things to say. God love her.
I’m on a bit of a reconnaissance mission for work too, looking for any III libraries that have upgraded to release 2006 so I can bend your ear about what to look out for. I’m often looking for folks to chat or drink with so please drop me a line or say hi in the halls…
