Burlington Bound

Laptop having a drink at Salt Hill

After a particularly windy night in Dover and a recreational tragedy with which to contend, I hit the road for Burlington and NELA.

My journey took me through Lebanon, home of my all-time favorite pub. It’s everything a town bar should be - high ceilings, hardwood floors, comfy stools standing sentry at a long copper bar, and proprietors, Joe and Josh Tuohy, that make you feel like you’re the only one in the place. Salt Hill and I moved to Lebanon around the same time, in 2003, and we were fast friends. I only stayed for three months, but they’re still going strong, remembered me, and were even happy to fuel up my tired laptop, as well as me and my thirsty companion.

It was hard to leave, but I found Burlington bright and welcoming two hours later and am now looking forward to a walk on the banks of Champlain before the NELA festivities begin.
