Student’s have their own spaces, their own functioning networks. Isn’t staunchly forcing them to use your systems, tight and rigid, akin to “telling them about your grass seed when they want to know about their lawn?”
I think academia as a whole needs to understand that sometimes in order to successfully serve their constituencies, they themselves might need to leave their comfort zones. How can we teach out students to take intellectual risks when our very infrastructure betrays our own reluctance to do so?
