Session: Taking Care of your Website: Savvy Software by Bill Savoy, President of Savvy Software
This is a vendor demo. They’re out of Portsmouth, NH, which is kind of cool.

Browser based.
Fall River School District is their demo site.
Admin levels for editors and contributors – very much like Scriblio/WordPress.
WYSIWYG editor – browse local files for things like images.
Scheduled updates. And revert to previous versions. Can add meta-keywords [should these be tags].
Disney is one of their largest clients – that’s pretty impressive. They seem to scale pretty well.
User changes tracking.
Can only do conversions for html-based sites, no flash.

A little self-disclosure: I am highly suspicious of vendors. CMS products seem so stiff. He just said, “extremely easy to use for non-technical people”; I guess that can’t be bad. But why does it have to be one or the other?

Someone asked if they provide hosting – they don’t. BUT, smaller organizations cannot afford or reckon with their own hosting, especially without help!

I just read my Google alerts and saw your blog post. Thanks for taking the time to sit in yesterday. Very fair summary of Savvy. One small clarification I might add: we don’t offer hosting but we do have partners who do (HostMySite, CF Dynamics and others). We typically assist the placement of sites since many small clients prefer not to deal with it. We owned a host facility one upon a time and I never want to do THAT again!
