Good eggs
Midnight on Wednesday-Thursday found me hunched over my computer finishing updating the Tamworth Library site to the latest Scriblio release. I did run into one hiccup with the search function. It startled me, since searching ease is the site’s bread and butter. Thanks to some quick tech-support, it did get resolved quickly. But, curious to see how many people may have been disrupted by it, I checked the stats this morning and discovered something cool. Of the top ten keywords that lead people to the Tamworth Library site, only four involved looking for the library specifically:
1. the square egg author
2. “the square egg” author
3. out of africa author
4. square egg author
5. site:tamworthlibrary.org omnivore dilemma
6. cook memorial library
7. cook memorial library, tamworth nh
8. “square egg” author
9. tamworth library
10. author of out of africa
I’m willing to bet the person/people who so desperately needed to know who wrote The Square Egg didn’t much care where that information came from. I like to think, though, that when presented with a screen of results, the presence of a library among them inspired some confidence and, perhaps, associated libraries with their modern information needs. Raising libraries’ profiles in the world is just one of the great things about getting our collections exposed in search engines. The fact that this all came from teensy little Tamworth Library is just gravy.
Incidentally, Barbara W. Makar wrote The Square Egg.
