I had the good fortune to return almost exactly a year later to find an incredible library transformation. The new space is functional, inviting, warm, appropriate, and in-keeping with the character of the building. Their new Children’s Room is in the former basement and, to me, is the crowning jewel. A mural of nearby lake Lake Winnipesaukee. It’s filled with light and fun and a play sailboat donated to the library by the sailing club. It’s everything that libraries should be and Laconia should be very proud. Now that their physical plant is well established as a place to be in the community, I’m looking forward to seeing them blogging, flickring, and chatting soon too!
